Where are Pericardium Meridian Points Location? Uses

The pericardium meridian of hand-Jueyin is one of the twelve meridians, and one of the meridians of hand three-yin,Corresponding to the Sanjiao meridian of hand-Shaoyang. The meridians are distributed in the chest and side, the middle of the upper limbs, the middle of the palm, and the middle finger.There are 9 points on one side of this meridian,including: Tianchi, Tianquan, Quze, Xiemen, Jianshi, Neiguan, Daling, Laogong, and Zhongchong.

This pericardium meridian starts from the chest, comes out of the pericardium, and penetrates the diaphragm downwards, connecting the upper, middle and lower trifocals. Its branches travels from the chest, and then go up to under the axilla at three cun below the armpit (Tianchi). Along the front of the upper arm,travels between the lung meridian of hand-Taiyin and the heart meridian of hand-Shaoyin,enters into the middle of the elbow (Quze), down the middle of the two tendons of the forearm (flexor carpi radialis tendon and palmar longus tendon),enters into the palm, along the middle finger to its end (Zhongchong); its other branch,comes out from the palm, and goes out of the ulnar end of the ring finger (GuanChong). The Qi connects with the Sanjiao meridian of Hand-Shaoyang.

PC 1 Acupuncture Point(Tianchi)

Location:1 cun lateral to the nipple in the 4th ICS.

Usage:

  • Headache, blurred vision, axillary sweating, malarial disorders, difficulty moving the limbs.
  • Chest – fullness, counterflow qi, cough with phlegm.
  • Breast disorders, breast abscess, insufficient lactation.

PC 2 Acupuncture Point(Tianquan)

Location:2 cun below the end of the anterior axillary fold between the two heads of the biceps brachii muscle.

Usage:

  • Calms the spirit – palpitations.
  • Opens the chest and invigorates the blood – cardiac pain, angina, cough, localized pain in the chest ,shoulder area.

PC 3 Acupuncture Point(Quze)

Location:On the transverse cubital crease on the ulnar side of the biceps brachii tendon.

  • Stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea and other acute gastrointestinal diseases;
  • Pain in elbow and arm contracture;
  • Fever.

PC 4 Acupuncture Point(Ximen)

Location:5 cun above the wrist crease between the tendons of palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.

PC 5 Acupuncture Point(Jianshi)

Location:3 cun above the wrist crease between the tendons of palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.

  • Fever, malaria
  • Arm pain.

PC 6 Acupuncture Point(Neiguan)

Location:2 cun above the wrist crease between the tendons of palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.

  • Cardiothoracic disease syndromes such as: heartache, palpitations, chest distress, and chest pain;
  • Stomach problems such as: stomach pain, vomiting, hiccups, etc.

PC 7 Acupuncture Point(Daling)

Location:In the middle of the wrist crease between the tendons of palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.

PC 8 Acupuncture Point(Laogong)

Location:At the center of the palm between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones closer to the radial side of the 3rd, where the tip of the middle finger falls when a loose fist is made.

Indications:Coma, syncope, heat stroke, vomiting, heartache, palpitations, mania, epilepsy, mouth sores, bad breath. Stroke, fever without sweat, full chest and distress, jaundice,angina etc.

PC 9 Acupuncture Point(Zhongchong)

Location:In the center of the tip of the middle finger.

Usage:

  • Stroke, coma, stiff tongue,heatstroke, fainting, convulsions in children and other emergencies.
  • Fever, swelling and pain under the tongue.
  • morbid night crying of babies.
